The Sixth Form at St. Clare‘s is open to all who are qualified by attitude and ability with a good record of examination success in Year 11: a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above). It may occasionally be necessary to advise pupils who have a poor record of attendance or a poor attitude to study that they are unlikely to benefit from a Sixth Form course.
Students in Years 12 and 13 have much individual freedom and are expected to display a mature and self-disciplined attitude to their studies and school life in general.
Year 11 pupils who wish to apply for St Clare’s Sixth Form should book an appointment to meet the Headmaster, Mr Antwis, and Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Parker, to discuss subject choices. For more information on how to enrol at St Clare’s please contact our Registrar, Holly Fowlkes, on (01656) 789966.
St Clare’s follow the Welsh curriculum for A Levels. We have assurances from Ofqual that this in no way disadvantages our pupils when applying to any UK university. The benefit is more flexibility akin to the legacy English A-levels.
For September 2018 pupils have 4 AS subject choices:
- Computer Science
- English Literature
- Mathematics (and Further Mathematics)
Following the A-level Options Evening on Wednesday, 14th March, the option boxes have now been finalised on the basis of which subjects students wished to take.
