Admissions Process

Nursery Admissions

At St Clare’s Nursery children are able to join the Nursery from the age of 2 years 6 months and provided that they are dry and out of pull-ups prior to starting. We are registered to received Bridgend Early Years Funding for children aged 3 – 4 years. Included in the application process is the opportunity to have at least two ‘settling in’ sessions to establish whether the school can provide appropriately for your child’s needs and for your child to experience life as a St Clare’s pupil. Places are not automatic. In some cases, a place will not be offered if we judge that a child’s development or behaviour is below expectation or that they will not flourish in the environment that we offer.

Entry into our Nursery at any stage is highly competitive and we encourage early registration.  We are presently offering places for September 2023 for all entry points. Occasionally places do become available, however, so please do get in touch if you are eager to join us before then. Priority is always given to those wishing to continue with us into our Reception class and beyond.

We are happy to offer private tours on a 1:1 basis by appointment only. Call us now on 01656 78996 to book your place.

Prep School Admissions

Admissions to St Clare’s Prep School can be made at any age for the September following a child’s fourth birthday. Entry is deemed automatic for all those children already attending St Clare’s Nursery, provided that the school judges it can provide appropriate for the child’s needs and that the child will flourish in the environment that we offer. The curriculum at St Clare’s is academic and therefore children are expected to perform above average in baseline assessments.

As part of our admissions process, once a child has been registered we offer an ‘assessment week’ for prospective children to be assessed in order to establish whether the school can provide appropriately for their needs. Places are not automatic. In some cases, a place will not be offered if we judge that a child’s development or behaviour is below expectation or that they will not flourish in the environment that we offer.  In essence, a place will be offered if we believe that the child will be able to keep up with the pace of our curriculum, if we can meet their needs and if there is a place available in the year group applied for. Demand for the Prep School is high so we encourage parents to register early so please contact admissions by email at info@stclares-school.co.uk to enquire about a place.

Senior School Admissions

Admissions enquiries for St Clare’s Senior School are welcomed from parents looking for senior school from parents whose children have been in independent prep schools or state primary schools. We offer an ‘assessment week’ for prospective children to be assessed in order to establish whether the school can provide appropriately for their needs. On the basis of these three elements, we make an offer of a place.  We will invite them for interview and ask their current school for a pupil reference.
