The Sixth Form tutors are responsible for the welfare and progress of all students in Years 12 and 13.
Most students entering St Clare’s Sixth Form have attended the school for some years – some even from the age of 2 ½. There is a strong family atmosphere with a very supportive ethos. This is especially important in this final stage of the academic journey before tertiary education.
However, for students joining St Clare’s at this stage we have a bespoke transition scheme to ensure a smooth integration.
The School provides ongoing guidance and advice to students, in particular:
- An induction course is held at the start of the Autumn Term. Students are encouraged to discuss their subject combinations. Opportunities and responsibilities are outlined and the expectations of staff are made clear.
- Subject teachers play an important role in guiding the Sixth Former towards mature study skills including how to cope with the volume of work expected.
- The Sixth Form tutors are responsible for the welfare and progress of all students in Years 12 and 13. Senior Staff provide guidance on the next stage of education / career including the process of university application.
Unlike many 6th forms, St Clare’s has a dedicated PSE/Citizenship programme run by Mrs Reohorn and is very popular with students.
