As a part of Cognita Schools Ltd, which holds a group Student Sponsorship Licence, we are happy to arrange Student visa or a Child Student visa (previously known as a Tier 4 visa) sponsorship for pupils who require this and meet the criteria and support you throughout the process. To secure a place, international students should have good English language skills and evidence of having performed well at their previous school(s). Once we have confirmed we have space in the year group you require, we will invite you to an interview with the headteacher or their representative. If you are offered a place, you’ll need to confirm acceptance in writing and by paying a deposit.
All potential candidates must undertake an initial English assessment with the International Recruitment Team. Grades and references from previous academic establishments will also be considered when deciding on your suitability for a place at St Clare’s School.

Pre A Level/A Level students:
All potential candidates for Pre A Level and A Level will be assessed through interview and written examination. Grades and references from previous academic establishments will also be considered when deciding about your suitability for a place at St Clare’s School.
To qualify for the A Level programme, you will need to demonstrate an English language level equivalent to the following:
- IELTS 5.5
- CEFR B2
Students enrolled on an A Level course are accepted on the strict understanding that progress will be reviewed at key stages including the end of the first half of term. The School reserves the right to require a longer probationary period, or a change of course entirely, following that review.
St Clare’s School works very closely with accredited guardianship agencies, who undertake stringent vetting of host families to ensure that international students are matched with hosts offering the most friendly, safe and comfortable ‘home from home’ environments in which they can both relax and study successfully.
Each student will be given the use of a single or twin study bedroom. Bathroom facilities are usually shared. Host family expenses include accommodation, breakfast and evening meals during the week, and breakfast, lunch and an evening meal over the weekends and during the holidays. A laundry service (excluding dry cleaning) is also included.
Additional full board accommodation over the holiday periods (Christmas, Easter and Summer) will incur additional weekly charges.
