Young Enterprise

This year's Young Enterprise company is called Quintessential

Quintessential (our Young Enterprise company for 2010 / 11)

will be making and selling a range of up-cycled items.

Enterprising pupils are making a stand, quite literally, for this year’s Young Enterprise business. The entrepreneurs have been researching ‘up-cycling’ as a growth area of sustainable business and have hit upon the idea of recycling old plates and crockery into attractive and desirable cake stands.

The group has created several prototype cake stands and are selling them at events in St Clare’s School and the local community.

Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. Young Enterprise is an organization committed to building a connected world of young people, business volunteers and educators, inspiring each other to succeed through enterprise. Their programmes are designed to empower the next generation with the confidence, ability and ambition to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.

The team have already sold several cake stands at a recent Ladies Night at the School and will be selling their products at Christmas and charity events in Porthcawl and the surrounding area. Quintessential also hope to exhibit in the forthcoming Young Enterprise Christmas Fayre and hopefully at the National Trade Fair in Stratford Upon Avon in the New Year.

Quintessential plan on diversifying into memo boards and reconditioned children's desks in time for Christmas.
