St Clare's Senior School
Age 11-16
Pupils from our Prep School proceed into the Senior School in Year 7, where they are joined by pupils from other primary schools within the locality.
With class sizes carefully controlled to optimise learning, the Senior School prides itself on enthusiastic and dedicated teaching to meet the needs of individual pupils.
All boys and girls recieve a broad education in their first three years in the Senior School. The curriculum includes English, Maths, History, Geography, French, Spanish, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Art & Design, Home Economics, ICT, Music, Religious Studies and PE. In addition, PSE is timetabled for all throughout the Senior School.
Towards the end of Year 9 boys and girls are carefully advised at this crucial stage with regard to GCSE options. Final subject combinations are decided after consultation between pupils and their teachers, parents, careers staff and form tutors.
There is a wide choice on offer at GCSE. All pupils take the compulsory subjects of English, English Literature and Mathematics. Otherwise, there is a free choice, although pupils are expected to choose at least one science and one language in order to maintain a balance.
There is a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs on offer, during lunchtimes and after school, and pupils are encouraged to join and take part in at least two activities each week.
