Senior School
Age 11-16
Pupils from our Prep School proceed into the Senior School in Year 7, where they are joined by pupils from other primary schools within the local area.
With class sizes carefully controlled for optimised learning, the Senior School prides itself on providing enthusiastic and dedicated teaching to ensure the needs of individual pupils are met.
All boys and girls recieve a broad education in their first three years in the Senior School. The curriculum includes English, Maths, History, Geography, French, Spanish, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Art & Design, Home Economics, ICT, Music, Religious Studies, Physical Education and PSE.
Towards the end of Year 9, pupils at St. Clare's are carefully advised at this crucial stage with regard to their GCSE options. Final subject combinations are decided after consultation between pupils and their teachers, parents, careers staff and form tutors.
There is a wide choice on offer at GCSE. All pupils take the compulsory subjects of English, English Literature and Mathematics. Otherwise, there is free choice, although pupils are advised to choose at least one science and one language in order to maintain a balanced education.
We offer a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs, both during lunchtimes and after school, and pupils are encouraged to join and take part in at least two activities each week.
