St Clare's School Prep School
Age 4-11
The curriculum in the Preparatory School is periodically reviewed, and takes account of, but is not constrained, by the National Curriculum. Particular emphasis is placed on Reading, English and Mathematics, with a firm basis in spelling and timestables. We ensure that pupils are able to apply these essential skills across the curriculum. Learning is organised to allow pupils to progress as rapidly as their ability allows.
The curriculum is enhanced by regular educational trips and guests visiting the school. Throughout the Preparatory School children benefit from specialist teaching input from our Senior School teachers in Science, French, Spanish, ICT, PE, Music and Art. This enables us to offer a successful yet challenging and stimulating educational environment.
Class sizes are carefully limited and are of mixed ability. Appropriate amounts of homework are set at all levels.
The Prep School day starts at 9am, and finishes at 3.10pm (infants) or 3.20pm (juniors). The Time Out after-school club then takes children until 6pm; providing a light snack and fun and games before parents come to collect them.
