What is Physical Education ?

In Physical Education (PE), pupils develop confidence and skills in. They work as individuals, in groups and in teams. Throughout, they learn the value of healthy, active lifestyles. Discovering what they like to do, what their aptitudes are at school, and how to be involved in physical activity helps them make informed choices about lifelong physical activity. From ages 5 to 16, by statute, PE is compulsory.

Aims & Objectives:

At Key Stage 3, pupils should be taught to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of physical education through the areas of activity. They need to demonstrate this in their planning (composing), performing and evaluating (reviewing or appreciating) of each activity. The greatest emphasis should be on performing.
