What is ICT?
A course in Information & Communication Technology offers a unique opportunity in the curriculum for candidates to identify and solve real problems by designing information and communication systems in a wide range of contexts relating to their personal interests.
Aims & Objectives
To encourage pupils to gather, store, process and present information through activities in a range of contexts. It will also give candidates opportunities to design, implement and document information and communication systems and develop understanding of the wider applications and effects of information and communication technology.

Year 9

Pupils Learn To:
- apply their knowledge, skills and understanding of ICT to a range of situations
- analyse, design, implement, test, evaluate and document information and communication systems for use by others and develop understanding of the wider applications and effects of ICT
- reflect critically on the way they and others use ICT
- discuss and review the impact of ICT applications in the wider world
Assessment:
The scheme of assessment consists of:
(a) a terminal examination carrying 40% of the total marks,
(b) coursework carrying 60% of the total marks.
