Friends of St Clare's

A Message from Scott Corthine, Chair of the Friends of St Clare's:

My name is Scott Corthine and I will be the Friends' Chair for 2011-2012. I have two daughters in the prep school and my wife Hayley is a teaching assistant at St. Clare’s.

Mrs Fiona Neeson will continue as vice-chair and Mrs Nikki Hughes stays as treasurer.  We currently have a healthy bank balance and stacks of enthusiasm and ideas but what we really need is input from you. Our hope is to encourage the pupils, parents and staff to come together to have fun, raise some funds and create some momentum to drive the school forward.

We have joined a recycling group www.recycool.org which neatly ties in with some of the environmental initiatives the pupils are involved with. We will be collecting items which this organisation will collect and pay for. If you have any of the following lying around at home or work please save them until we have finalised how we intend to collect them.

  • Mobile phones
  • Printer cartridges (ink jet, laser or fax)
  • CDs and DVDs in their boxes with sleeves (don’t worry it’s anonymous so nobody can judge you on your musical or cinematic taste)

Upcoming events:-

Tues 29th Nov - 7pm
Next meeting of the Friends of St.Clare’s.

Thurs 1st Dec - 9am
Coffee morning in the prep school.

Sat 3rd Dec

The prep school is hosting an event for Kidsmarket where parents can buy and sell good quality pre-loved children’s clothes, toys, push chairs etc. The Friends will be providing a refreshment stall (coffee, pastries etc).  Even if you don’t need a second hand pram please come along to say hello... it saves cooking your own breakfast.  More details www.kidsmarkets.co.uk

Tues 6th Dec

Christmas Fayre.

Final plea:   If, at this time next year, you don’t want to be complaining that the Friends of St. Clare’s never do anything that interests you - or if you have a good idea on how best we should spend the money we raise - please come to the meeting on the 29th.  Failing that, email the School Office and they will pass my contact details on to you.

Many thanks,

Scott
