What is French?
Modern languages have always been an important part of the curriculum, but never more so than at present, when links with our European neighbours involve tourism, trade, agriculture and industry. French is taught at Key Stage 3 through the medium of modern, authentic materials. Pupils are encouraged to develop understanding of the spoken and written forms of the language in a range of contexts.
Aims & Objectives:
It is our aim to enable pupils to understand and communicate well so that they will derive real pleasure from being able to converse with French speakers and to understand their way of life.

- Speaking

Assessment:
Continuous assessment is used throughout Key Stage 3. Pupils are tested in each skill at the end of each module of work (6 modules per year). These tests are based on the GCSE model. Pupils are encouraged to focus on personal improvement targets which they set for themselves with teacher advice.
